Plans for your local board area
Local boards are responsible for services in local communities like parks, environmental initiatives, libraries, pools, arts, recreation centres, community halls, programmes and events, as well as support for local community groups.
Fairer funding for local boards
The Governing Body approved a 'fairer funding' approach for local boards in the Long-term Plan 2024-2034 (10-year budget). This will enable local boards to better respond to the needs of their communities.
This annual plan begins to address the difference in funding between the 21 local boards that has been in place since Auckland Council was established in 2010.
This will change in 2025/2026 with our fairer funding approach which allocates available funding to local boards based on each local board's:
- population (80 per cent)
- levels of deprivation (15 per cent)
- land area (5 per cent).
