Kaipātiki Local Board

In 2025/2026 we plan to invest $9 million in capital spend to renew and develop our assets (resources we own). We also plan to invest $24.2 million to maintain and operate these assets and deliver local activities (operating spend).

These amounts include $2.1 million extra operating spend and $200,000 less capital spend as part of the council's 'fairer funding for local boards' model as set out in the Long-term Plan 2024-2034 (10-year budget).

However, we might need to use some of these extra funds to cover unavoidable increases to the costs of existing services.

  • invest in Māori outcomes through engagement, events and building authentic relationships with Māori to better-serve the needs of the Māori community
  • invest in positive outcomes for our youths through conversations with young people to identify local activities and services that interest them
  • provide more sport and recreation opportunities by giving grants to organisations to:
    • maintain or improve their assets
    • allow members of the community to use facilities that are not owned by the council
  • work to protect and restore our environment with help from local environmental groups
  • invest in:
    • management of environmentally friendly open spaces like parks and reserves
    • building maintenance
    • waste collection services
    • bush track maintenance
    • removing aging pine trees
  • improve compliance in the areas of:
    • buildings
