We received 934 pieces of feedback.

    These came from:

    • our hardcopy survey
    • our community partnerships
    • social media channels
    • a Have Your Say event.

    Key feedback themes

Overall, 88% of submitters were supportive of the plan.

There was strong community support for the following:

      • increasing the visibility of young people in the plan
      • strengthening our partnership with Maori and our response to Manurewa’s cultural diversity
      • improving safety on our roads, around schools and suburban streets
      • ensuring our playgrounds in targeted locations are designed for all abilities and accessible to families
      • initiatives that protect our environment and continue focus on the Puhinui Stream, Manukau Harbour and our waterways.

    What happens next

    • We adopted the Manurewa Local Board Plan 2020 at our November business meeting. You can view a copy of the final plan on our website.
    • We will continue to work with our communities to prioritise and incorporate your feedback through our work programmes. We will also advocate on your behalf to the Governing Body on issues facing Manurewa.

Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, insights and gave feedback on what the Manurewa Local Board should include in their next three-year plan. It has been great to hear from you and see your creative ideas and passion for your communities and neighbourhoods.

    Who we heard from

We held three events in partnership with community organisations where we heard from a cross section of the community from young people to seniors. We heard many of your views face to face at the Teddy Bears Picnic, Totara Park Challenge and Bilingual Hikoi, we heard from the Manurewa Youth Council, and surveyed Manurewa Local Board residents through the Auckland People’s Panel as well as our online ideas hub.

    What you said

These are some of the key themes we heard from all the feedback received:

    • Playgrounds and play spaces
    • Protecting our environment
    • Improving transport networks, cycleways and road safety

    What happens next?

All 21 of Auckland’s Local Boards are developing their new 2020 Local Board Plans based on what we heard and other inputs such as the Auckland Plan, Long Term Plan, and Annual Budget. Given the extraordinary circumstances we now face, you can expect to see some localised responses to Covid-19 recovery, and some things may need to be put on hold. T

The next phase of this consultation will be in July when we come back to you with an opportunity to have your say on the draft Manurewa Local Board Plan.

We will be back in touch when phase two opens.
