Love local, get vocal and help shape your Local Board Plan 2020

The Papakura Local Board has come up with a three-year plan outlining the key initiatives we want to focus on to help our communities thrive and support the recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.

The plan has five outcomes:

  1. A vibrant and prosperous local economy
  2. A community enriched by its diversity, where people feel connected and lead active, healthy lives
  3. A well connected area where it's easy to move around
  4. A treasured environment and heritage
  5. A partnership with Māori that creates a Papakura where Māori identity, culture and aspirations are embraced

Have a look at the plan for more details of what we will do to deliver on these outcomes and take the survey to tell us what's most important and what's missing. You will need to sign in or register with your name and email address to take part.

Our 2020 Local Board Plan proposals are open for feedback until Thursday 13 August.

So love local and get vocal about your community by having your say. We'd love to hear from you.

Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, insights and gave feedback on what the Papakura Local Board should include in their next three-year plan. It has been great to hear from you and see your creative ideas and passion for your communities and neighbourhoods.

    Who we heard from

We held two events in partnership with community organisations where we heard from a cross section of the community from young people to seniors. We heard many of your views face to face at the Movies in the Park and Youth fest, we heard from the Papakura Youth Council, and surveyed Papakura Local Board residents through the Auckland People’s Panel as well as our online ideas hub.

    What you said

These are some of the key themes we heard from all the feedback received:

    • More outdoor play spaces and community events
    • Youth initiatives
    • Protecting our environment

    What happens next?

All 21 of Auckland’s Local Boards are developing their new 2020 Local Board Plans based on what we heard and other inputs such as the Auckland Plan, Long Term Plan, and Annual Budget. Given the extraordinary circumstances we now face, you can expect to see some localised responses to Covid-19 recovery, and some things may need to be put on hold.

The next phase of this consultation will be in July when we come back to you with an opportunity to have your say on the draft Papakura Local Board Plan.

We will be back in touch when phase two opens.
