Adaptation strategies for the Draft Waiheke Island SAP

We have identified the following coastal adaptation strategies on Waiheke Island for the short (0-20 years), medium (20- 60 years) and long term (60 – 100 years).

To understand more about these strategies before providing feedback, select any strategy you would like more information on:

The Waiheke Island Shoreline Adaptation Plan area extends around the entire island, across seven 'units':

  1. Waiheke West (Te Huruhi Bay – Oneroa Bay)
  2. North West Coast (Hekerua Bay to Onetangi West)
  3. Onetangi Bay
  4. Waiheke East (Piemelon Bay - Opopo Bay on the north coast, and Kauaroa Bay - Te Matuku Bay on the south coast)
  5. Man O’War Bay to Te Matuku Bay
  6. Ōmiha, Whakanewha / Rocky Bay to Rangihoua wetland
  7. Putiki Bay (Ostend to Kennedy Point).
