Help us plan for the future of our shoreline
We are preparing shoreline adaptation plans (SAPs) across the region.
The plans will be prepared in partnership with:
local communities
mana whenua.
The plans will:
look at how we can adapt Auckland Council-owned land and assets to respond to coastal hazards and climate change over the next 100 years
promote the preservation and restoration of the coastal environment for future generations.
What we want your feedback on
We want to know:
how you use the coastlines around Waiheke Island and/or the Aotea Great Barrier and the Hauraki Gulf Islands.
what you value about the coastlines around Waiheke Island and/or the Aotea Great Barrier and the Hauraki Gulf Islands.
what you think of the proposed draft coastal adaptation strategies for the Waiheke Island coastline and/or the Aotea Great Barrier and the Hauraki Gulf Islands coastlines.
This will help us to:
identify areas of importance to the community
understand community values and connections to the coast
make suitable plans to help manage the changing shorelines.
