Love local, get vocal and help shape your Local Board Plan 2020
The Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board has listened to the community and come up with a three-year plan outlining the key initiatives we want to focus on to help our communities thrive and support the recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.
The plan sets an agenda that puts the resiliency of Aotea at the heart of all the board does.
From the chair
During the COVID-19 lockdown, our island’s strengths were highlighted: our ability to respond quickly and collaborate; the resilience of our core agencies and our strong mainland connections.
But our weaknesses were also exposed: our freight vulnerabilities, lack of connectivity, exposed marine border and heavy reliance on the tourism economy.
We drafted our local board plan specifically to meet the challenges of the coming years, post-pandemic. We’ve stripped the draft plan right back to one focused outcome of island resilience.
