I do not support spending good money on coastal walk ways when we already have plenty of beach space to walk on and pathways throughout the housing areas and around the roads. We have other priorities such as the community & sports centre.

Increased volume of traffic turning into Waikopua off of the Whitford/Maraetai road makes this very hazardous with the left side of the main road eroded causing a number of accidents. Road can be easily widened to create a safety zone to facilitate turn

Cricket is New Zealand's most popular summer sport, but is struggling in South Auckland/Franklin, despite the increasing local population. Two ways Council might be able to help stimulate greater interest and participation in the sport would be: 1. Help resource and work with the Counties Manukau Cricket Association to create better engagement within new suburbs and with communities and groups that are currently under represented in the sport (women and Maori, Pasifika and Asian communities). 2. Create a local first class venue: Cricket in Franklin is part of the Northern Districts Cricket Association and not the Auckland Cricket Association. As a result there is no first class cricket venue for the region's first class team to play on or for local players and supporters. A first class venue would attract matches involving New Zealand's best players and local cricketing heroes. This would stimulate enhanced interest amongst school aged players in particular, while benefiting the local economy. Currently Weymouth is the best quality wicket in South Auckland, but it is under utilised and prone to vandalism. The new development planned for Karaka Sports Park is an exciting opportunity, but will fall well short of providing a first class cricket venue unless changes are made (eg improved quality of outfield and pitches, removal of artificial surface from a designated first class oval, lighting to allow day/night games, a decent scoreboard, planting of shade trees etc). The Bay Oval provides a very good model for cricket development at the Karaka Sports Park in many respects.

With the consent and addition of around 230 lots in at Kahawai point this has put strain on the existing road. The structure of the roads are crumbling and the safety of the roads needs to be a PRIORITY for our area.
