Fairer funding for local boards

Currently, some local boards receive more funding than others. This funding is used to support local community services like parks, pools and libraries.

Through the Long-term Plan 2024-2034, the council is looking to move to a fairer funding model that addresses funding differences.

Planned capital spend to renew and develop assets for the next financial year across all local boards is $131.1m for community services. Planned operating spend to maintain and operate assets and deliver activities across all local boards is: $348m for community services, $6.4m for environmental services, $21m for planning services and $23m for governance.Key areas of spend for local boards in financial year 2024/2025
