We received 728 submissions in total from the online form, letters from residents and community groups, and from several drop-in and community events.
35 per cent of respondents agreed with the proposed track re-opening plan, including the tracks selected for prioritisation, and those that would open over the next five years.
They also felt the proposed plan balances the need for recreation in the Waitākere Ranges with the need to protect kauri and forest health more broadly.
61 per cent disagreed with the proposed plan, saying that it did not provide a good balance of recreation experiences and forest health. Most people in this position want more access to the Waitākere Ranges.
