Update: Draft Waitākere Ranges Climate Action Plan

Key feedback themes
Most feedback supported the draft plan and the need for urgent climate action.
People said they want the plan to focus on actions that:
- reflect the needs of both rural and urban areas
- improve public transport
- provide better walking and cycling options
- provide funding and incentives to support community climate action
- help communities:
- adapt to climate change
- reduce known climate risks
- support local food production
- protect the natural environment
- support a transition to renewable energy.
What happened next
The Waitākere Ranges Local Board updated the draft climate action plan in March 2025 based on:
- community feedback
- feedback from the local board.
The local board adopted the final Waitākere Ranges Climate Action Plan [pdf 13MB] on 28 August 2025.
