Te Whau Pathway

Te Whau Pathway will link the Waitematā and Manukau harbours. It is designed to improve access to the Whau River and create new walking and cycling connections for recreation and commuting.

The construction of the pathway will deliver three-metre-wide concrete paths on land and four-metre-wide boardwalks through the coastal marine area.

The pathway will connect 33 reserves, esplanade reserves, sports parks and roads. It will also connect the various communities of Green Bay, New Lynn, Avondale, Kelston, Glendene and Te Atatū as well as several schools.

Te Whau Pathway is being built in stages. Sections have already been completed at:

  • Archibald Park
  • Ken Maunder Park
  • Olympic Park McLeod Park
  • Roberts Field and Tiroroa Reserve.

A section at Rizal Reserve/Sandy Lane is currently under construction.

What we want your feedback on

We want to hear your views on the design and location of spaces for play, access and rest along with areas of the pathway that haven’t been constructed yet.

Two areas of the pathway currently have funding for construction, but we are considering the design of the whole pathway now.

Your feedback will provide us with a ‘road map’ for what should be prioritised as more funding becomes available.

See the Te Whau Pathway website for more information on funding and the pathway route.

You can have your say on:

  • Locations of areas for play, access and rest along the pathway.
  • The design of play, access and rest spaces along the pathway.

When you can have your say:

You can have your say from 22 November until 20 December 2021.
