Somerset Road tree replanting

Thank you for having your say about the replanting of trees on Somerset Road, Mt Roskill.

We received feedback from five members of the public who completed our online survey and two separate parties who lived near the project site and sent in written submissions via email.

Key feedback themes

The main feedback themes included:

• People approved the idea of replanting new trees on Somerset Road.
• There was concern about the current trees near the hockey sports field.
• There was concern that future new trees could impact the hockey sports field.
• People preferred native trees to be planted where the poplar trees were. 

Changes made as a result of your feedback

As a result of your feedback, we changed one species of proposed tree to be replanted near the hockey sports field to address concerns. 

What happens next 

Puketāpapa Local Board has approved the proposed long-term planting project.

The replanting will begin over the coming planting season and in the following years.
