Shoreline Adaptation Plans - Tāmaki Estuary feedback form

We strongly encourage you to read the supporting Tāmaki Estuary Shoreline Adaption Plan (SAP) proposal before providing feedback. 

This shoreline extends from the mouth of the from West Tāmaki Point (headland to the north of Karaka Bay) and continues east until Te Naupata / Musick Point.

Draft Adaptation strategies for the Tāmaki Estuary SAP area 


We have now drafted coastal adaptation strategies based on the feedback we have heard, coastal hazard information, and technical inputs by the Coastal Management Team for the area of coastline and we want to ensure you think our proposals are right for the coastline. 

We have identified the following coastal adaptation strategies in the area for the short (0-20 years), medium (20- 60 years) and long term (60 – 100 years).

Tāmaki Estuary Shoreline Adaptation Plan area extends across nine 'units':

  1. Karaka Bay Beach to Tahuna Torea Reserve
  2. Wai-o-Taiki Bay to Panmure
  3. Panmure to Middlemore
  4. Ōtāhuhu to Highbrook Park
  5. Ōtara
  6. Highbrook Park to Pakuranga
  7. Pakuranga Heights
  8. Panmure Bridge to Half Moon Bay
  9. Half Moon Bay to Te Naupata / Musick Point
