Help us plan for the future of our shoreline

We are preparing shoreline adaptation plans across the region in partnership with mana whenua and local communities.

Shoreline adaptation plans:

  • look at how we can adapt Auckland Council-owned land and assets to respond to coastal hazards and climate change over the next 100 years
  • promote the preservation and restoration of the coastal environment for future generations.

Background to the draft shoreline adaptation plan

During 2023 and earlier in 2024, we asked the community what they valued about the Manukau North shoreline and how they used it.

Your feedback helped us develop a draft Shoreline Adaptation Plan for the Manukau North coastline [PDF 3.04MB]

The plan acknowledges how the community was affected by:

  • the Auckland Anniversary weekend flooding
  • Cyclone Gabrielle.

We want to find out if our proposals are right for the area.

What we want your feedback on

We want to know:

  • what you think of the proposed coastal adaptation plans for Manukau North
  • if we should include anything else
  • if you have any other feedback on implementing the plan.
