Your feedback

All questions are optional

In this feedback form, we want your feedback on the Auckland Central SAP area, which covers the area shown in the map above. (Figure 1).

We will ask for your feedback on the Auckland Central SAP area through three sections:

  • General feedback on your values and use of coastal areas overall (what you value about the coast, how you access and use it)
  • Place-specific feedback relating to specific areas of the Auckland Central SAP area (where you go in these areas, what you do there, and how we plan to manage coastal hazards)
  • Future aspirations and other feedback (any other feedback you want to share, or if you just want to provide some quick comments).

You only have to provide feedback on the sections you want to.

Place specific feedback

In this section, we want feedback on areas you visit, activities you do there, coastal hazards you have experienced and your thoughts on the draft adaptation strategies for specific areas.  We have grouped the questions into areas.

You only need to give feedback on the areas of interest to you.

We have identified the following coastal adaptation strategies in the Auckland Central area for the short (0-20 years), medium (20- 60 years) and long term (60 – 100 years).

Unit 1: Auckland Central

The Auckland Central SAP area is located along the Waitematā Harbour, spanning 10 km from Westhaven to Mechanics Bay. It features popular community spaces like Silo Park and Wynyard Quarter, offering parks, restaurants, and events. Viaduct Harbour and Britomart offer cafes, residences, offices, and waterfront views, while Queens Wharf and the Ports of Auckland serve as industrial areas for maritime activities.

Residential areas like Wynyard Quarter, Viaduct Harbour, The Strand, and Britomart primarily consist of apartment-style accommodation with commercial uses on lower levels. Commercial Bay, lower Queen Street, and Britomart are key commercial areas. The area provides extensive public transport options, including bus, ferry, and train services, with Britomart Train Station and Queens Wharf serving as major transport hubs. Ferry services, the Port, and Westhaven Marina connect to the waterfront, offering dining, accommodation, and walking tracks”.

Overall, the SAP area provides access to the coastal environment, social infrastructure, commercial and retail spaces, marine activities, and a range of residential options.
