Punganuiabout 2 years agoGreenways / Footpaths.
We need more footpaths in Rodney than any one agency or entity can deliver. Much confusion exists about "greenways"..many seem to confuse the concept of greenways in semi-rural areas with the inner-city "cycleways/walkways" etc. Greenways in local context are merely footpaths /cycleways not adjacent to A.T. or Council roads. ..and in many parts of Rodney are the ONLY realistic or feasible solution to pedestrian/cycle connectivity. There is an indicative Greenways plan in RLB's LTP... but private land-owners collaborating, where possible, to help connect their properties, subdivisions, or even comm. projects, to other critical areas of social use (such as parks, schools, shops, community facilities, etc ) need support at Council level before the opportunities disappear through the inevitable ongoing development of the area. There are several local initiatives in varying stages of advancement in this area...but funding to "join the dots" through Council or other C.C.O. owned land as a priority to see them completed has yet to be sought..private land-owners can only do so much. A dedicated, identifiable policy at Council / Local Board level to help align priorities , -in particular how to address specific funding possibilities where private entities cannot stretch the gap, - would produce fantastic results through the network of private individuals & land-owners already involved in various local projects.

Local board needs to push hard for transit to improve through Kumeu/Waimauku/Helensville. Improving bus infrastructure (lanes, stops and park and rides) and revisiting the rail connection would be the beginnings in reducing car traffic and providing for new housing developments.

Improved transport options.
3 comments7Romabout 2 years agoI want Rodney Local Board to stop leasing land under their management to the Warkworth Rodeo or any other rodeo show
Rodney Ward is a progressive region with a growing and increasingly diverse population. It is not acceptable in 2020 for Council to support in any way, activities, including rodeo, which include animal cruelty and exploitation for human entertainment. It is not acceptable for council managed land to be used for such activities, which normalise violence towards animals. I would like to see the land used for family friendly entertainment such as folk festivals, craft fairs, zero waste food and wine festivals, and for the younger people how about a World Class skatepark right here in Rodney.
