Manurewa Local Board is developing a local parks management plan as required under the Reserves Act 1977. The plan will guide the use, protection and development of local parks and reserves in the local board area over the next 10 years.

We want your feedback to help us prepare the draft local parks management plan.

We will draft the plan using feedback from this public consultation and engagement with mana whenua (local Māori).

In 2027, we will hold a second round of public consultation, asking for feedback on the draft plan

The local parks management plan will:

• look at how we can develop and improve our parks
• help us meet community needs and aspirations
• focus on important cultural, historic, natural and recreational values associated with parks in the area
• guide how we use the parks for organised sports and informal recreation like walking and having a picnic
• identify issues and opportunities at the parks.

Tell us:

• what you value about parks in the Manurewa Local Board area
• if you experience any challenges when you visit our parks
• how you want to use the parks now and in the future
• if you have any other feedback to help us draft the park management plan.

We also want to know:

• what you do at the parks in the Manurewa Local Board area like dog walking, running, socialising and attending events
• how often you visit your local parks
• which parks you visit the most in the area.

You can have your say from Thursday 3 July to Sunday 3 August 2025.

We will use your feedback to prepare a draft local parks management plan and present it to Manurewa Local Board. We expect to run a second consultation in 2027 to get your feedback on the draft plan.

Once adopted, the plan will replace all existing reserve management plans for parks in Manurewa.
