Closing the loop: Mānu (Maui) Reserve
Public consultation for the pre-design stage for Mānu (Maui) Reserve playground renewal closed on 16 October 2023.
We received about 24 pieces of feedback through our online survey.

Main feedback themes
Feedback showed that the current park is mainly used for:
- children's play
- walking
- enjoying nature
- relaxing/socialising.
Requests for the new playground
Popular requests for the new playground include:
- play activities such as:
- climbing/crawling
- balancing
- nature play
- spinning
- shaded areas
- picnic tables.
Most visitors either walk or drive to the park.
Changes made based on the feedback
Most of the preferred play activities can be included in the new design. We have also included:
- play areas for young and older children
- a new accessible swing
- a tube slide
- monkey bars
- a seating area for families
- an access way to the playground.
What happens next
The consultation feedback was included in the pre-design and presented to Whau Local Board for feedback on 8 May 2024.
