PeterMover 4 years agoUpgrade the Sunnynook Busway stop
Upgrade the Sunnynook Busway stop to the standard of the Akoranga busway stop with pedestrian access between platform 1 and 2, and safe covered access across the motorway. The present access and exit on the south side is very difficult for the elderly and on a wet day it is bad for everyone. 100,000 and growing people access the bus stop every month. The Sunnynook stop is the only residential stop on the busway.

The heart and soul of any commercial centre revolves around pedestrians enjoying public spaces, which include footpaths, cycleways, squares, lanes and any outdoor areas contributing to the gathering and meeting of people which stimulates activity and use of retail amenities. Milford needs to see a proposal for the pattern of walkways through the whole centre, not just piecemeal projects, so that community can comment on, participate in, and help create their own future environment. Many of the Issues below are embedded in the Milford Centre Plan 2015 and various recent proposals within Auckland Council. However, there is a lack of co-ordination to produce a coherent concept plan with realistic projections for this range of future projects, in order to provide a future sustainable Milford and the well-being of its citizens.

Clean up Wairau Estuary. Specific line item and funding in the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board Plan and the Auckland Council Plan for the Wairau Estuary clean up. North Shore Councillors and Board members are elected to represent the North Shore. Spend local rates locally and give the people what they want. No more excuses, we need action.

Getting to and from the water from the beach on a wheelchair, walker, pram etc is very hard / near impossible. We need a beach access mat to be installed on Takapuna Beach to help everyone in our community to enjoy the water and our wonderful beach.
0 comment6Bill Raynerabout 4 years agoA Great Big Idea - support a community trust to take over the Council heritage commercial properties to provide funding for heritage prjects
There are several legacy Council heritage properties in Devonport and Takapuna that are rented out by Council, and these would be put into a Trust to provide funding for heritage and community projects in the Local Board area.
