I have read the Storm Response answers but aside from the problems of the worst cases where whole houses were damaged, what is the council planning to do with the storm drainage system generally. For example in Blockhouse Bay more houses are being built on land that used to have one dwelling, and in ordinary heavy rain the storm water drains overflow running down driveways and along footpaths. When are these everyday problems going to be addressed. I believe that stormwater drainage in this area has not been upgraded since the 1950’s. I would like to know that it is a priority for the council.

    Thank you for your question.

We outline our Infrastructure Plans (including stormwater generally) in the draft Infrastructure Strategy in our supporting information. One of seven areas of investment includes managing our stormwater network to minimise risks of flooding.

Perhaps more specifically and immediately, we also have an online dashboard of current planned works for water improvement projects: https://aucklandcouncil.maps.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/e5fc6fe9d6ed4561a16f535c70da8343.

Please do let us know if you have any further questions. We encourage all Aucklanders to have their say at akhaveyoursay.nz/ourplan to help inform final decisions on the Long-term Plan 2024-2034.

On p188 of the supplementary document 2025 debt is projected to be $13.8b, and 2034 debt is projected to be $20.1b. P199 shows net cash flow from financing activities for 2024/2025 to be approx $1.2b. From that can we assume that the projected 2024 year end debt for the Council Group is $12.6b? If not, what is the projected 2024 year end debt for the Council Group?

Thank you for your question. We appreciate you having your say on Auckland Councils Long-term Plan 2024-2034 consultation.

In our Annual Budget 2023/2024, page 54 had total borrowing forecast at $11.9 billion at the end of the current financial year.

Thank you again. We encourage all Aucklanders to have their say at akhaveyoursay.nz/ourplan to help inform final decisions on the Long-term Plan 2024-2034.
