Closing the loop: Wesley Community Centre playground concept plan

Consultation on the Wesley Community Centre playground renewal closed on 10 October 2024.

We received 26 responses through our online survey. We also visited the Wesley food market to speak to local residents.

Key feedback themes

Most people supported the playground concept plan. Around 54 per cent fully supported it and 42 per cent supported most of it.

People supported the soft surfacing, waterplay area and inclusive play equipment.

They also asked for more shade and seating around the playground.

Changes made based on the feedback

Based on feedback, we added shade sails and extra seating.

We will also use wet-pour surfacing to make the playground safer and more accessible.

Wet-pour surfacing is a rubber-based, impact-absorbing and anti-slip safety surface commonly used in playgrounds, parks, recreational areas and accessible pathways.

What happens next

Construction will start in May 2026 and finish by July 2026.
