Wellsford Centennial Park is a 16ha sports park which provides a lot of the community’s formal sports and recreation activity.

However, most of these assets belong to clubs and are in varying condition.

In the 2020 Rodney Local Board Plan, Wellsford Centennial Park was identified as a key park to develop and deliver a plan to meet the needs of the growing community.

About the Wellsford Centennial Park Needs Assessment (2020)

The Wellsford Centennial Park Needs Assessment (2020), identified the needs for a masterplan for the park.

It also identified the following improvements:

• Provide open space that can be used for events.

• Provide barbecue/picnic areas and park furniture.

• Identify the best locations for the courts and support infrastructure.

• Consider the best way to provide for a single building that caters for meeting/social space, food service, A&P show needs, health and fitness activities, and storage.

• Improve pedestrian and cycle connections to the residential areas of Wellsford.

• Create a walking and cycling circuit around the edge of the park.

What we are proposing

Several buildings at Centennial Park require maintenance and upgrades.

To ensure that the park meets the needs of the community, it's time for a redesign.

Our goal is to deliver an accessible, community sport and recreational park for everyone.

The new masterplan will guide future decision-making on investment for the park. It will do this by providing the general design direction for the park including the approximate location of facilities and improvements.

The plan will also:

• help us upgrade the park's assets

• identify services that are needed

• identify where clubs can work together to develop shared facilities.

What we want your feedback on

Before the plan can be finished, we want to hear from the Wellsford community so we can make sure we’ve got the plan right.

Tell us:

• what you like about the plan

• how we can further develop Centennial Park to be a sport and recreation hub

• what you would like to see in the park in the future

How you can have your say

You can:

• fill out our online feedback form below

• pick up a hardcopy of the feedback form from Wellsford Library

• attend our drop-in event at the Wellsford Night Markets on November 25th 4pm-6pm

When you can have your say

You can have your say from Friday 18 November to 5pm Friday 16 December 2022.
