What happens next
Under the Reserves Act 1977 we are required to consider public objections to proposed land exchanges. As there were no objections during this engagement, we will proceed with the land exchange.
A report on the engagement process, results and recommendations was presented at the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board business meeting on 18 November, 2020.
A final decision will be made about proposed land exchanges by the Parks, Arts, Community and Events Committee on 10 December 2020.
About the proposed land exchange at Watchfield Close in Māngere
On 11 June 2020, the Parks, Arts, Community and Events Committee resolved that Auckland Council publicly notify, under section 15(2) of the Reserves Act 1977, the intention to exchange the current walkway (101m2) into Moyle Park on Watchfield Close for a new walkway (336m2) into Moyle Park on Watchfield Close in Māngere.
Kāinga Ora is redeveloping the Māngere West area and these developments present opportunities for Auckland Council to improve the amenity and functionality of existing open space.
The intended land exchange will:
improve access into Moyle Park
increase amenity values and open space (235m2)
provide a safer, more visible walkway.
