Thank you for having your say.

Main feedback themes

Feedback shows:

  • support for the direction of the plan including:
    • focusing on ways to reduce waste
    • redesigning, reusing or repairing items
  • support to address:
    • litter and illegal dumping
    • construction and demolition waste
  • mixed responses for the proposal to move from weekly to fortnightly rubbish collections, with concerns about:
    • how households would manage their rubbish
    • increase in illegal dumping, odour and pests
  • support for plastics, textiles, green waste and packaging as priority waste materials
  • support to advocate to central government for a beverage container return scheme and other product stewardship schemes.

Changes made based on feedback

Based on the feedback, we changed our proposal to move from weekly to fortnightly kerbside rubbish collections from 2026.

We will consult with the affected residents on a proposed trial before considering any change to the rubbish collections.
