Our tree specialists have now assessed the remaining poplar trees for health and safety reasons.

Our long-term vision for Somerset Road

We are working on a long-term plan (over the next 30 years) for the trees on Somerset Road.

As part of this, we're considering a proactive, urban forest approach.

This will be based on:

  • tree health and public safety
  • the history of failures at the location
  • proactive replacement planting.

What we are proposing

We are proposing that once an individual tree reaches a state of decline that requires safety intervention that we will remove it and replace it with a new tree.

Existing trees will be maintained and cared for.

We will undertake annual inspections to ensure they can remain in place as long as possible to give the new trees time to establish.
