Most people (90%) support a new public toilet in Riverhead.
Main feedback themes
Feedback on the new toilet location showed:
- 32.7 per cent support Deacon Point (Dinning Road) Reserve
- 32.2 per cent support Murray Jones Reserve
- 23.4 per cent support Riverhead Drive playground.
Decisions made based on the feedback
We presented the community feedback report to the Rodney Local Board business meeting on 11 December 2024.
Based on the community feedback and supporting documents, we recommended installing two individual toilets. This includes:
- one at Murray Jones Reserve
- other one at Dining Rd Esplanade reserve (Deacon Point).
What happens next
The local board accepted and supported the recommendation. However, they decided that Dinning Road Esplanade Reserve (Deacon Point) should have two toilets in one toilet block.
The toilet block in Murray Jones Reserve is completed and open.
We expect construction of the toilet block in Dinning Road Esplanade Reserve to conclude by the end of February 2026.
