Our proposed plans for Constellation Park
Young people in Beachlands have limited recreational opportunities and few places to socialise in a safe environment.
The owner of Trail Pro Limited has offered to build a new bike pump track at Constellation Park in Beachlands. He is a local resident and has expertise in developing bike tracks. Trail Pro Limited has built several bike pump tracks on behalf of the council. They will provide most of the funding for the new track.
Following our assessment, we found that Constellation Park is the most suitable site in Beachlands for the new pump track because:
- there is enough flat space in the park
- it has connected pathways that provide a safe and accessible route for cyclists to reach the park
- it will not affect areas of cultural importance which could happen at other potential sites in Beachlands.
We have already consulted with the Franklin Local Board and included their feedback in the proposed plan.
What we want your feedback on
We want feedback from park users and neighbours to find out if they would support and use the new pump track.
We want to know:
- which local parks you visit to hang out with friends and why
- which parks you visit to spend time on your own and why
- how you travel to parks in Beachlands
- how often you use Constellation Park
- if a new a pump track will increase your visits to Constellation Park.
