We received 356 submissions through the online survey. Feedback showed that 76.6 per cent of people supported building a new pump track.

• support for the location as it:
  • is a good use of underused land
  • works well with the existing playground and paths
• the need for more facilities with a growing number of families moving to the area
• concerns about drainage issues at the park
• concerns about the location of the track being close to neighbouring homes.

Changes made based on the feedback

We installed extensive drainage under the pump track. This will help drain the unwanted underground water to keep the land drier and usable.

We planted more trees and shrubs around the pump track after consulting with people who live near the park.

What happened next

Franklin Local Board approved the project on 25 March 2025.

Work started on the pump track in April 2025 and it opened to the public on 7 June 2025.
