Have your say and help shape the Piha Wetland Plan
This consultation closed on 9 June 2020. Thank you for having our say.
We received eight online feedback submissions on the Piha Wetland Service Outcome Plan.
Key feedback themes
The top priorities according to the feedback were:
providing a visible and accessible site entrance
raising the profile and awareness of the wetlands
for the heritage buildings to remain on site.
The least popular outcome was prioritising cycle racks at the domain.
What happens next
We are now making changes to the draft plan to incorporate your feedback.
After that we will check in with our key stakeholders and hold a workshop with members of the Waitākere Ranges Local Board.
The final version of the plan will be submitted for adoption to the Waitākere Ranges Local Board in August 2020.
About the Piha Wetland Plan
The Piha Wetland Plan will help plan the future of the parks and reserves included in the Piha Wetland site.
In late 2019 we gathered initial feedback on the Piha wetland site from groups in the Piha community and Auckland Council staff. This feedback provided us with an understanding of how the wetland is currently being used along with potential suggestions or concerns for future use and development.
We are now looking to understand how important each of the outcomes identified are in the Draft Piha Wetland Plan are to you.
We have worked with the community to create a draft plan for the site. The plan shows key outcomes and actions to protect and restore the environment of the wetland, enabling locals and visitors to recreate and enjoy this open space now and into the future.
