This consultation is now closed.
Consultation on the Paparata Road Reserve redevelopment closed on 10 July 2025. Thank you for having your say.
This consultation took place in two stages.
In stage one, we asked the community what they would like to see in the reserve. We received 133 responses through our online survey. We held a workshop with school students and gathered feedback at the Bombay Farm Run event.
In stage two, we asked the community to share their feedback on the draft concept plan. We received 34 survey responses and held a drop-in event at the Bombay School.
Key feedback themes
- Support for a pathway connecting Lawrence Crescent to Paparata Road.
- Strong interest in recreation spaces such as playgrounds, open play areas and seating.
- Support for a community hub as a gathering place for events, workshops and local groups.
- Concerns about flooding, environmental protection and keeping privacy for neighbours.
Changes made based on the feedback
Feedback helped shape the draft concept plan and which was approved by Franklin Local Board in August 2025.
The approved plan includes a:
- pathway linking Lawrence Carter Drive to Paparata Road through Paparata Road Reserve
- play space
- community hub
- 'kick-around' area.
In response to the feedback, we moved the pathway and play area further away from neighbouring properties to protect their privacy.
What happens next
Stage one of the project concept plan will include:
- building the pathway, playground and community hub
- drainage improvements and signage works.
Stage two will add additional features like shade structures.
Detailed design will begin once funding is confirmed through the local board's future work programme.
