Ōtara Town Centre playground move and upgrade

We are proposing to move and upgrade the playground and seating in Ōtara Town Centre and we want your feedback.

What we are proposing

We have listened to concerns about the continuing anti-social behaviour near the playground at Bairds Road reserve. After considering our options we have decided to move the playground to a new location.

The playground will have new play equipment and seating.

We will find another use for the old playground equipment.

Location options

We are considering four options in the town centre for the new playground. They are:

  • in the central plaza area
  • by the library entrance
  • next to the medical centre
  • in front of the pool and recreation centre.

We want to know which location you prefer for the playground upgrade.

You can have your say from Friday 23 May to Friday 20 June 2025.

What happens next

We will consider all feedback and then decide on the new location for the playground.

We will present a concept design to Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board in August 2025.

We plan to finish the upgrade in June 2026.
