Thank you for having your say.

Public consultation for the O-tua-uru / Brylee Drive Reserve closed on 23 October 2025.

We received:

Key feedback themes

Community feedback included:

  • safety concerns about poor drainage
  • concerns about the lack of accessibility features for people with disabilities
  • the need for play opportunities for a wider range of ages, from toddlers to young people
  • requests for equipment where adults and children can play together
  • requests for a larger basketball court as the proposed half court was too small
  • requests for balancing equipment.

Changes made based on feedback

Based on community feedback, we have made the following changes:

  • raising the concrete path and increasing wet pour surfacing (a smooth, impact absorbing surface) to make the playground area more accessible
  • retaining Roktopus, an inclusive climbing play structure for children and adults
  • adding additional drainage to help protect the play space during heavy or prolonged rainfall. Drainage for the wider park is outside the scope of this project.

What happens next

In December 2025, the Papakura Local Board decided to proceed to the detailed design stage.

We plan to start construction later in 2026.
