About the Proposed land exchange at Mayflower Park (Winthrop Way) in Māngere

On 11 June 2020, the Parks, Arts, Community and Events Committee resolved that Auckland Council publicly notify, under section 15(2) of the Reserves Act 1977, the intention to exchange Mayflower Park (1619m2) for a new park (1620m2) on Winthrop Way in Māngere.

Kāinga Ora is redeveloping their large landholdings around Māngere East which presents the opportunity for Auckland Council to improve the amenity and functionality of existing open space.

The intended land exchange will:

  • increase accessibility with additional road frontages
  • enhance amenity value and functionality
  • improve sightlines into the new park
  • provide environmental design for safer, more visible space.
