About the project

Glen Innes has grown in recent years, with a young and diverse community and a significant increase in population.

As the area continues to grow, we need to upgrade Maybury Reserve to better serve the community.

We want to design this open space to make sure:

  • it lasts a long time
  • residents and visitors can enjoy it for years to come.

We are in the early stages of developing a concept plan and want to understand what is important to you.

We will develop the plan in partnership with mana whenua and with community feedback from the public consultation.

What the upgrade will include

We expect the upgrade to include:

  • ecological improvements
  • shared pathways
  • facility upgrades
  • a new destination playground
  • design elements that reflect mana whenua values and identity.

Related projects

Alongside the upgrade, Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters team is planning three stormwater upgrades across Maybury Reserve:

  • the Ōmaru Creek and network upgrade
  • the Elstree Avenue culvert upgrade
  • the Point England Pond Naturalisation.

This work will:

  • restore natural water flow
  • improve stream stability
  • build long-term resilience for a rapidly growing Tāmaki community.

These projects will be delivered in stages to minimise disruption.
