We are working with Te Akitai Waiohua to develop a new playspace at the Manga-paakau / Glenveagh Park Drive Reserve.
Te Akitai Waiohua has developed a concept design based on the principles of Kaitiakitanga (sustainability), Taakaro taiao (nature play) and Rerekeetanga o te taakaro (diversity of play).
These principles will help to create a playspace that:
- supports the environment
- encourages natural play
- offers a range of play experiences for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
What the proposed concept plan includes
The proposed concept plan includes:
- play equipment like:
- spinning sky carousel
- spinning angled carousel
- spinning disc
- combination basket and two seat swing
- springer
- 2.5 metres high tube slides
- inground trampoline
- agility trail
- climbing wall
- balance beams and rocks
- connecting the concrete path between Glenveagh Park Drive and Mahia Road
- 'Whaariki’ woven mat design using rubber play tiles
- landscaping elements like:
- overflow grass areas bordered with low buffer planting
- 1 metre high fence at the top of the stream bank.
