Concept plan for Kuhanui Reserve playground
The Papakura Local Board has approved the development of a new playground at 16 Kuhanui Drive, Hingaia. This project will:
- provide open space and recreation for growing communities in Papakura
- support healthy lifestyles
- help the community to build social connections
- help us make use of existing outdoor space and community facilities
- support Auckland Plan outcomes related to belonging, participation and Māori identity and wellbeing.
What we are proposing
We are proposing to:
- build connecting footpaths between Breton Road, Kuhanui Reserve and Kaimanawa Road
- add planting between the new playground and Bayvista Drive Reserve to protect the overland flow path
- provide shade, such as a shade sail
- create separate play areas for early childhood (0-4 years) and junior (5-12 years) age groups
- include a social gathering space
- incorporate nature play elements
- include open green space.
