Johnson Reserve sits between Dunkirk and Tripoli roads with access from Larsen Road, Coral Crescent and Suda Place. The reserve currently has very few amenities and a narrow footpath along the southern boundary.

The Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board, Parks and Community Facilities and Healthy Waters have developed a proposed concept plan to upgrade Johnson Reserve. This upgrade will be part of the Tāmaki Regeneration Programme..

We worked with mana whenua and used these documents to develop the proposed concept plan:

What the proposed concept plan includes

We want to:

  • build a new playground, with a kick-a-ball lawn and picnic areas with visibility to Tripoli Road
  • build a shared path for walking and cycling between Tripoli and Dunkirk roads
  • build boardwalks
  • widen entrances, improve visibility to main roads and increase recreation space
  • make stormwater improvements to improve ecological function and resilience
  • celebrate heritage and culture.

  • how you normally travel to the reserve
  • about your main activity at the reserve
  • if anyone in your household has a disability that affects how they access and use the playground
