There are more than 70 playgrounds in the Howick Local Board area.
Unfortunately, costs to renew and maintain our playgrounds and play spaces are increasing beyond our resources.
Community feedback shows that many of the new playgrounds in Auckland are considered:
- boring
- lacking creativity
- only suitable for a small age group
- too similar to other existing playgrounds.
The development of larger playgrounds in the Howick Local Board area have become popular destinations for families, with many other Howick communities asking for something similar in their area.

We want to know:
- what you use playgrounds for
- how well you think the playgrounds in the Howick Local Board area provide play options for different age groups
- which activities you regularly take part in when you use council-owned open spaces and parks
- if you prefer skate parks and bike pump tracks next to, or separate from, other play areas
- how easily you can access information about council playgrounds, play areas and amenities like toilets and seating areas.
