Consultation has concluded

The existing playground at Hooton Reserve in Albany needs renewing.

The renewal is part of the Upper Harbour Local Board work programme for financial year 2023/2024.

What we are proposing

We want to provide a challenging, fun and safe new playground for children of all ages.

Skateboard park

We will seal some of the bark gardens close to the skate park to reduce the amount of bark that spreads onto it.

We also propose to remove one of the skate elements so we can extend the play space.

Basketball court

We will not make any changes to the full-length basketball court, but we will:

  • remove the broken stand-alone basketball post and hoop
  • extend the concrete area for skateboarders.

What we want your feedback on

We want to know:

  • how often people in your household use the play space
  • who in your household uses the playground
  • how you travel to the playground
  • if anyone in your household has a disability that affects how they can access or use the playground
  • what kind of theme you would like for the new playground
  • what you think of our proposal for the skateboard park.

We would also like to know what activities and play equipment you would like in the new playground, such as:

  • swings
  • climbing frames
  • slides
  • spinning and rocking equipment
  • jumping
  • water play
  • sand play
  • music play
  • nature play.

Your feedback will help us develop the next stage of the design.
