Henderson-Massey Inclusive Playspace

The Henderson-Massey Local Board area has more parks than any other area of Auckland. These spaces come in all shapes and sizes and cater for a range of different needs in our community.

However, we recently found that we are lacking in specialised, inclusive play spaces in our area.

An inclusive playground allows everyone to play together. It suits all ability levels and caters to people in our community with disabilities.

What we are proposing

We think it is important that everyone can play in our area, so want to create the first purpose-built inclusive play space in the Henderson-Massey Local Board area.

We want to include a lot of natural play elements in this playground, as well as special equipment that will encourage sensory and cooperative play.

Most importantly, we want it to be accessible and enjoyed by everyone in our wider community.

We hope that this exciting playground will be a welcome addition to the Henderson-Massey area.

What we want your feedback on

We need your help to decide where this playground should be located in our community.

We are considering the following locations:

• Harbourview-Orangihina Park on the Te Atatū Peninsula
• Te Rangi Hiroa Reserve in Rānui.

We would also like to know how likely your whānau is to use this new play space.

What happens next

We will consider your feedback when deciding on the location of this new playground.

A concept design for this inclusive playground will also be created and shared with the Henderson-Massey Local Board.
