We received 91 items of feedback – 78 through our website, 11 by email and two written submissions.
Changes made as a result of feedback
Your feedback was presented at the Waitemata Local Board workshop in October 2021, where the updated Heard Park concept plan was presented, along with suggested quick improvements that will address immediate issues/concerns within the park.
Work on the quick improvements will commence shortly and a contract has been awarded. Further quick improvements require more involved work.
The updated concept plan presented to the local board is a long-term aspirational plan and included the following changes:
proposed play equipment to be swings and a “playful” art piece
the rear seating area adjacent to the building to be redesigned as seating “bays”.
Quick improvements presented to the local board that can and will be undertaken shortly, include:
hedge removal
re-grassing damaged areas
cleaning existing seats
repair lighting.
uneven paving to be repaired, including lifting pavers and creating garden beds under the trees
Quick improvements that require more involved work, include:
the existing artwork to be cleaned and restored
large trees purchased and located in planter boxes in front of the building at the rear of the site
root barrier measures to ensure the long-term preservation of pathways under the existing trees
installation of a drinking fountain
power options installed for events.
What happens next
The updated concept plan will be formally adopted by the local board. Works will commence on the quick improvements. The consenting process and finding suitable contractors will then begin on the more involved quick improvements.

What are you providing for children ? Parnell badly lacking play facilities for young children. Important to keep the swings . !! Lots of grandparents live in the vicinity of Heard Park and need a good playground to entertain under 6 year olds particularly.

Hi, is there a map or some sort of concept illustration? The concept plan as presented lacks any sort of detail and the vague information given aren't concepts really, for example 'Connected' is only a word not a concept in terms of a park. The terms offered are truly meaningless. Where can more tangible information be found?
