What we are proposing

We are proposing to grant a community lease to Whai Māia Charitable Trust 1.

The trust plans to develop and operate the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Sport, Recreation and Hauora Centre at Ōrākei Domain.

About the project

The proposed facility will be built:

  • on the site of the former bowling club
  • on a small piece of the reserve currently used for a compact weather monitoring facility.

It will include:

  • one or two indoor court facilities
  • a fitness centre
  • a café
  • changing rooms
  • office space.

The facility will focus on the overall wellbeing (hauora) of the community by providing a safe, inclusive space within the local area for:

  • rangatahi (young people)
  • tamariki (children)
  • whānau (families).
