What we are proposing
We want to upgrade the playground and park furniture at Kahawai / Glenbrook Beach Beachfront. The upgrade will provide safe and accessible facilities for all ages and abilities.
The proposed upgrade design
We worked with local iwi Ngāti Te Ata to develop a proposed design that reflects the cultural and natural heritage of the area. These include:
- imitating the play area as shellfish scattered on the beach
- using natural materials where possible
- net
- a waka play item to reflect the significance of the inlet as a historic route for travel and trade.
What we want your feedback on
We presented the proposed design to the Franklin Local Board in November 2024. We now want your feedback to complete the proposed design.
We want to know:
- how often you or the people in your household visit the reserve
- what you do most at the reserve
- if you use the existing playspace at the reserve
- if anyone in your household has accessibility needs
- if
We also want to know what you think about our proposed design for the upgraded playground, such as the:
- location
- play equipment
- colours
- materials.
