• a stronger connection to the natural and cultural environment of the reserve.

What happens next

Based on this feedback, Auckland Council has developed a plan for Elstree North Reserve that focuses on:

• improving accessibility through safer, well-connected shared pathways
• upgrading the playground to be safer and more inclusive, including nature-based play elements
• enhancing amenities such as seating and furnishings to support everyday use
• strengthening ecological outcomes through stream re-vegetation and riparian planting
• reflecting mana whenua values and aspirations, with opportunities to acknowledge Whakamana Ngāi Tai and Ngāti Pāoa identities.

The improvements will be delivered in stages to maintain public access to the reserve while works are underway. This approach allows upgrades to be implemented progressively while minimising disruption for reserve users.
