What are we proposing
We want to upgrade Elstree North Reserve to meet the needs of the growing community.
We plan to:
- plant vegetation along the streams to improve the coastal environment and help protect it from floods
- build safe and accessible shared pathways for people of all ages and abilities
- renew the basketball court
- upgrade the existing playground to make it safe and accessible
- include artworks to reflect the values of Whakamana Ngāi Tai and Ngāti Pāoa.
We have consulted Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki and Ngāti Pāoa and included their values in our proposal.
What we want your feedback on
We want to know:
- how often you use the reserve
- what your main activity is at the reserve
- how you think we can improve safety at the reserve
- which areas you feel need improvement among:
- stream planting
- basketball court
- playground
- pou (carved wooden posts) and mahi toi (cultural artworks)
- about any local stories or history you think we should consider in our design.
