Public consultation for Coyle Park playground renewal closed on 27 May 2025.

We received 79 submissions through the drop-in session and online feedback form.

Key feedback themes

Feedback shows support for:

  • the proposed design
  • keeping the existing play equipment including:
    • monorail
    • flying fox
    • climbing boulder
    • spinner
    • climbing net
  • shade over the playground and seating areas
  • addressing the drainage issues.

We have also received requests for improvements to netball, tennis, fitness, bike/skate facilities. However, they are outside the scope of this playground renewal.

Changes made based on feedback

The new design includes:

  • a set of monkey bars
  • three metres increase in the height of swing frame for older age groups
  • a set of concrete steps with handrails which will be added to the steep grassy slope to make it easier and safer to get to the carpark and toilet block
  • a path and cycle racks between the climbing net and perimeter path
  • toddler train, carriage and ticket booth for imaginative play based on the theme of the existing monorail.
