What we are doing

We have drafted concept plans for Clevedon Village and Clevedon Showgrounds. The plans aim to set a vision and key goals for both areas.

They will:

  • ensure future facilities and public spaces are fit-for-purpose
  • guide future council and club investment and the location of improvements.

These plans are just ideas for now. Council funding is only available for the playground improvements at North Road Clevedon at this stage.

Background to the concept plan

The Clevedon population is growing. There are a lot of new residential developments being built. Most of these will surround the community spaces in Clevedon Village and Clevedon Showgrounds.

We developed these concept plans in response to community concerns about:

  • the impact of growth on Clevedon Village
  • making better use of community spaces.

Clevedon Village proposed concept plan

This draft plan aims to:

  • expand the playground with a mixture of nature-inspired play elements and rural-themed structures
  • build a bike hub, public toilets and shower
  • create a multi-use carpark area and make room for an events area
  • create a foyer towards Papakura-Clevedon Road to extend the community hall
  • open up the northern side of the building to create a deck area
  • replace the current library with a mobile library to create more space for parking
  • move Clevedon Plunket Clinic to the District Centre site at 2 Papakura-Clevedon Road, to accommodate consultation rooms and other community services
  • establish a civic garden where the District Centre is
  • keep Clevedon Village Reserve as a green space, install signage and improve public seating.

Clevedon Showground proposed concept plan

This draft plan helps guide the council and other organisations (like clubs) on where they can develop future facilities.
