New coastal pathway in Beach Haven
We are ready to begin stage three of our project to improve coastal tracks and pathways in Beach Haven. This is part of the Kaipātiki Connections Network Plan (KCNP) to create better walking and cycling links across the Kaipātiki Local Board area.
We want your feedback to help us choose between one of two options for a new pathway in Beach Haven.

About the Beach Haven project
We are delivering this project in three stages:
- stage one upgraded the existing Beach Haven coastal track to 'council track standards'
- stage two renewed existing paths and added new bridges to provide step-free access
- stage three will build a new pathway to connect to the upgraded coastal track.
We completed stages one and two between 2021 and 2023. We are now planning stage three.
Proposed options for stage three
We are considering two options for the new connecting pathway.
The proposed routes for the new pathway are:
- a path to connect Tui Park with the new coastal track in Shepherds Park
- a path to connect Hellyers Creek Reserve with Kahika Point Reserve in Birkdale.
Currently the local board only has funding for one of these options. It plans to start work on the other option once more funding is available.
