Closing the loop: Achilles Crescent Reserve playground renewal

Public consultation for the Achilles Crescent Reserve playground renewal in Narrow Neck closed on 13 May 2024.

Thank you for having your say.

We received 92 pieces of feedback from the public through our online feedback form.

Key feedback themes

We asked for feedback on two designs for the renewed playground.

The feedback shows most people preferred design option 2 for:

  • its inclusive and accessible play equipment
  • its boat theme, which fits well with the local area’s environment and history
  • more activities for children of different ages
  • its safer play equipment with soft-fall matting
  • using a local business to build the new playground.

Feedback also shows that people prefer the variety of play equipment in option 2.

This includes:

  • swings
  • spinners
  • climbing options
  • a play boat that adds more fun and encourages creative play.

What happens next

We presented the feedback to the Devonport -Takapuna Local board in September 2024.

The local boards approved the proposed design option 2 for the playground renewal.

We will now work on the detailed design and update this page as the renewal progresses.
