Between 17 April and 18 May 2023, we notified our intention to grant a new commercial lease for the building at 39 Birkenhead Avenue.

The purpose of the lease is to operate a licensed restaurant.

In total, we received four pieces of feedback.

All feedback came via our online survey.


Key feedback themes

The feedback shows there is support for:

• providing a new commercial lease for the restaurant for an initial term of six months with a further six-month extension

• opening a new business as to benefit the local area

• bringing more energy to the area with arts and music.


What happens next

• We will inform Kaipātiki Local Board of the consultation outcome.

• We will progress with finalising the lease arrangements.
